EPA Ends Stop-and-Start Regulation

Trump’s EPA has ended regulations and TAX MONEY that forced manufacturers to install automatic stop-and-start systems. Those rules were created under the Obama administration and carried out during the Biden administration.

And this is the part people should actually pay attention to.

This was never just government saying you will do this. It was government saying you will do this and we will pay you to do it. Not with manufacturer money. With your TAX MONEY.

That is why these things move so fast and so quietly. If government told manufacturers to redesign vehicles, absorb the cost, deal with angry buyers, and take the hit themselves, it would be locked up in court for years. Lawsuits. Appeals. Delays. That is how resistance usually looks.

Instead, government offers money and incentives, and suddenly there is no resistance at all. Of course there isn’t. When you get paid to comply, it stops being a fight. The cost does not disappear. It just gets passed along to everyone else through higher prices, added complexity, and features nobody asked for.

Stop-and-start is a perfect example. Plenty of drivers hated it. That did not matter. It spread because the rules and the TAX MONEY made it worth installing. Not because it improved the driving experience. Not because buyers demanded it. Because it satisfied regulators.

This is where it starts to feel upside down. Government steps in like a parent deciding what is best, uses taxpayer money to steer private companies, and then acts surprised when everything costs more and works worse.

It is like paying someone to build a maze around you and then being told the exits are for your own good. You funded it. You enabled it. And now you are expected to live inside it.

Ending this rule is not just about stop-and-start. It is about whether people should be paying for regulations that make their own lives more expensive and frustrating.
