During his campaign, Woodrow Stanley asked voters for a second chance, and it seems he got his wish.

Tuesday night, the former mayor nabbed 74 percent of the vote in his bid for the second district seat on the Genesee County Board of Commissioners.

It's a position left vacant by Floyd Clack, who is retiring.

During Stanley's campaign, he admitted to making mistakes in the past, but said he had the skills to help govern the county.

In 2002, he was recalled in a bitter election that was then followed by a state takeover of Flint.

At that time, the city was more than $ 40 million in debt.
