The Downtown Small Business Association Nov. 16 discussed vandalized parking meters, a program to help some businesses grow and its annual car cruise.

“We are working to get control of the city’s downtown parking meters by the first of the year. Once we get control, we plan to replace the meters with modern ones that are much more secure,” said James Rutherford, Downtown Development Authority president.

So this solves the problem. LOL The meters are broken into right in front of the Flint Police Dept. So the plan is to turn over ownership to The Downtown Small Business Association who will install more secure meters. Am i the only one who isn't getting this? Aren't they missing the point completely? Shouldn't matter what kind of meters are down town. They should be safe from vandelism and break in, RIGHT IN FRONT OF THE POLICE DEPT!!! The meters weren't broke. They were victums of Crime. They were victums of being in the wrong place at the wrong time. In front of the Police Dept. New meters isn't going to solve the problem. That isn't the problem!!

It is pretty bad. What are they gonna steal when the meters are made more secure?

Secure or safer shouldn't matter when it comes to parking meters. The safest place in Flint for anyone or anything should be in front of a Police Dept. Wouldn't you think?
