Just days after Flint voters ousted four incumbents, Flint Mayor Don Williamson says two more council members need to go.

The mayor made that statement during a press conference Thursday morning. Thursday night, one of those council members named was speaking out.

Specifically, the mayor was referring to council members Scott Kincaid and Carolyn Sims -- both who were re-elected Tuesday night.

Both of those council members say they have no intentions of stepping down.

It was supposed to be a meeting to address the homelessness problem within Genesee County.

However, Williamson first addressed two remaining council members that he's had a strained relationship with.

"The only ones we have left out of all these hecklers is Scott Kincaid and Carolyn Sims, and I hope that they resign," Williamson said.

For weeks, the mayor campaigned to get rid of council members he did not see eye to eye with. Defeated in the recent election were council members Johnnie Coleman, Ed Taylor, Josh Freeman and Lawrence Murphy.

Sims says she intends on keeping her seat.

"(Williamson) has a right to say what he wants," she said. "You have to realize my accountability is not about what people say about me. It's about how I treat people and what I say."

Sims, who lost her voice after weeks of campaigning, says she'd rather stick to the issues facing Flint residents rather than focus on personality differences with the mayor.

"I respect the office of the mayor because the residents elected him, so I support him," she said.

We talked to Kincaid by phone; he declined to go on camera.

Kincaid also declined to comment on the mayor's statement, but says the mayor should start leading by example and stop being so negative about people who are elected into public office.
