Flint City Council President Johnnie Coleman bears a lot of responsibility for the state of affairs in the city.

Besides blocking Mayor Don Williamson's reforms at every opportunity and ratcheting up the acrimony between the mayor's office and city council, his blatant homophobic attitude deserves no place in the government of Flint.

At the end of September, Fox 66 taped Coleman suggesting two Flint residents "perform a sex act" (as the Flint Journal said) when he was served with a conflict of interest lawsuit. Fox 66 anchor Jim Kiertzner confronted Colman who then called Kiertzner a "faggot."

Coleman then repeatedly called Kiertzner a "faggot" to passersby.

When asked by a different reporter about the incident, Coleman said, "Jim is a faggot."

Last year, Coleman suggested Flint Journal columnist Andrew Heller enjoys "fag porn."

Coleman has a history suggesting those that disagree with him are gay and uses that retort to distance himself from dealing with criticism.

Because of Coleman's juvenile and homophobic ways, we endorse his opponent Kerry Nelson for 3rd Ward Council.
