It was an emotionally charged City Council meeting in Flint Monday evening as city leaders heard what residents thought about a plan to oust Flint Mayor Don Williamson.

Many said it was the voter that brought Williamson into office, and it should be up to the voter to remove him -- not City Council.

Shortly after speaking out against the council for trying to remove Williamson, Councilman Johnnie Coleman summoned police officers to remove a local radio talk show host from council chambers.

While the host did not leave, hundreds of residents blasted council during a special hearing on whether to recall Williamson.

Some city leaders were critical of the mayor's actions and say they believe he violated city charter.

While the mayor was absent from the forum, he had a strong showing of support from city residents who praised him for his work in the community.

They also had strong words for the members of council trying to get rid of him.

Council added eight conduct-related ordinances to the city charter for any elected official. And if for some reason Williamson violates any of those ordinances, they'll start the process of trying to remove him.
