The Play it Again Scam!

"With 12 dead, more than one hundred thousand residents poisoned and scores of children damaged for life Sheriff Pckell turned our Water Crisis into a publicity stunt.

The National Guard, Red Cross, and Michigan State Police were on the sene, but Pckell stepped in to steal the spotlight.

Always looking for ways to scam taxpayers, Sheriff Bob Pickell has outdone himself! This time- in awell publicized pres conference with television cameras rolling, microphones catchng every word and reporters taking notes- Pikell used the FLINT WATER CRISIS as the backdrop and "volunteered" his deputies to distribute water.
Wat a show!

After Mr. Pickell partnered with Republican Governor Rick Snyder- prtnding to care about hurting people- Pickell presented a bill for nearly $ 500,000 dollars to be paid by local taxpayers.

"Only a political hack would team-up with the Republican state government to take advantage of our local population. They poisoned more than a hundred thousand residents and caused the death of twelve people exposed to fatal Legionaires disease. This political hack has got to go!"

His publicity stunt has backfired. It's time for Bob Pickell to be replaced with a bright new Sheriff who respects all the people. Let's turn off thee stage lights...silence the microphones...pack the television cameras away and get on with making Genesee County safe again.

New Sheriff in Town paid for the ad supporting Dan Allen for Sheriff. They are not affiliated with the Dan Allen committee.

One thing is for sure-they are not playing around. This may be the hottest election in town come August 2nd.

Informed sources state the group is operating under a corporate status. There have been rumors for some time that three prestigious law firms were going to fund the challenge against Pickell. Well the rumors were true!. Political insiders say the group has committed a minimum of $200,000 towards the flyers, and $100,000 is already in the coffers. These insiders wonder how successful the effort will be and point to the Melki race as having been the main challenge to Pickell's political machine. because Melki had "an army of supporters."

The name of the Genesee County Chairman has come up and some claim there is a feud between Jamie Curtis and the Sheriff. It seems hat before the Curtis divorce, rumors were flying about a health problem with Curtis, and some insinuated he had attempted suicide. The divorce pleading had Jamie alleging his now ex-wife, a physician and a registered pharmacist had switched out his blood pressure meds for an antidepressant which contributed to his health issues. All I know is there have been no more rumors about his mental state since the divorce was final.

Sources say that last October Pickell asked the County Clerk to send a letter to Curtis asking him to surrender his concealed gun permit. The sheriff asked for a second letter in January when there was no response from Curtis. Allegedly the reason was that Curtis had allegedly attempted suicide. The County no longer has the "gun board".

i am told the Clerk had no authority in the situation and the State Police have indicated the permit would have to had been retrieved by the Sheriff. Messy situation. I was informed the Clerk declined to place information about Curtis on lien.

Stories of Pickell's political influence are surfacing. Many are aware that former Prosecutor Bob Leonard and now deceased former Judge Luke Quinn played major roles in the initial appointment of Pickell to replace Sheriff Joe Wilson. Even I was unaware that the initial contact in favor of Pickell came from Leonard to Quinn. My contacts indicated Quinn pulled the strings with the UAW and other political entities to ease the transition.

Then County Clerk Mike Carr, Probate judge Al Nelson and Prosecutor Art Busch were on the selection committee. My sources say there was some reluctance but the political machines were already in motion.

The NAACP and other organizations were angered when Under sheriff Art Evans was not named to the position and called it a "back room deal" in the Concerned Pastors for Social Action newspaper The Courier.

There was also conflict between Genesee County Corporate Counsel Ward Chapman and County Commissioner after Chapman blocked Herman from entering the selection because of a state law.

Both Pickell and Leyton remain in close ties with the UAW and even attend sprting events with them. I don"t know if the UAW ever expects favors for their members through this close relationship, however they did during the Leonard administration.

from Facebook:

Most voters are familiar with the idiom "new sheriff in town" fro either
the old John Wayne type westerns or the "Walking Tall" trilogy, where a fundamentally moral and courageous individual challenges and overcomes a police system that is corrupt, mismanaged, and abusive. The clever use of "new sheriff in town" signals the group's intent to scrutinize and engage in dialogue advocating the election of a new sheriff for Genesee County they believe would have a more responsible leadership style characterized by a strong ethical sense of duty. The mailers they propose can serve much the same purpose of a "watchdog" group highlighting stories of not only alleged mistreatment of citizens and employees within the jail system, but a systematic media pandering to influence public opinion

SHERIFF PICKELL DOES NOT FOLLOW THE OATH OF HIS OFFICE...HE HAS "GOT TO GO" AND THE GREAT PEOPLE OF GENESEE COUNTY WILL GET A SHERIFF THAT DOES NOT RULE WITH VENGEANCE IN HIS SOUL...
DESCRIPTION OF WHAT A SHERIFF IS SUPPOSED TO BE IS DESCRIBED BELOW BY THE "NATIONAL SHERIFFS ASSOCIATION".
The characteristic that sets the sheriff’s office apart from other law enforcement agencies is its direct accountability to citizens through the election of the Sheriff. The Office of Sheriff is not a department of county government, it is the independent office through which the Sheriff exercises the powers of the public trust. No individual or small group hires or fires the Sheriff, or has the authority to interfere with the operations of the office. Elected sheriffs are accountable directly to the constitution of their state, and the citizens of their county. The sheriff should naturally do his best to work with all entities because it is important in a democratic society. The sheriff must work with all segments of government to serve and protect the citizens of the county.
The preservation of the Office of Sheriff is vital in our republic. Outside a few elected town marshals, the Sheriff is the only head of a law enforcement agency in this nation that is accountable directly to the people of his /her jurisdiction. In 2010, the National Sheriffs’ Association passed resolution 2010-1 that succinctly presents the reasons why the Sheriff needs to be maintained as an elected office as it has since the early history of our country.
I believe the office will be preserved as this great nation moves forward. Each of us as Sheriff can do our part to insure our contribution to the preservation of this great office by following these principals:
•Remember those sheriffs who have served in our counties and across the nation. Build on their success – learn from their mistakes.
•Serve with integrity.
•Do not abdicate Sheriff’s responsibilities, duties, or management rights to other governmental entities, unions, or political influence. The sheriff alone stands directly accountable to citizens for quality of service of the Sheriff’s Office.
•Know and fulfill the Sheriff’s moral and statutory responsibilities.
The Sheriff and all those in law enforcement should never forget that he or she has a calling to be “a minister of God for good.” Rom 13:4 For those who have the privilege of serving as a County Sheriff, it is truly a privilege and Honor to Serve.

Today, "Live Shot" Pickell again denied using the Flint Water Crisis as a publicity stunt. He claims his response was all volunteer-based using private donations. Who does he think he's fooling? His bill for nearly half a million dollars is posted on the County's website for all to see. Take a look here.

So what do you think about Bob Pickell’s $500,000 publicity stunt? Here’s how it went down. Sheriff Pickell called a press conference and the media showed up. He announced he was volunteering a dozen or so of his deputies to distribute water to Flint residents. Then the “Double–Cross.” Pickell presented a bill for $500,000. What a scam. Give me your thoughts on this. Is he scum or what?

GENESEE COUNTY, MI -- A Genesee County commissioner who was removed from the sheriff's reserve deputy list is receiving a third notice to turn in his unrestricted concealed pistol license.

(UPDATE: Genesee County Commissioner has valid CPL, attorney says)

Genesee County Clerk-Register John Gleason said he sent a notice to County board Chairman Jamie Curtis on Feb. 9 regarding his unrestricted CPL he was granted while on the reserve deputy list. Gleason said this is the third notice Curtis has been sent.

"Sheriff Pickell, on Oct. 28, removed Curtis from the special deputies, which meant he had an unrestricted concealed pistol license at that time," Gleason said. "With his removal from the special deputies all of his credentials were stopped, so he lost his unrestricted license. On Oct. 28 he was given an order by the sheriff to turn that in Nov. 6. He didn't turn them in. So my office on Nov. 19 sent him a notice -- 'The pistol free exemption has been revoked from your concealed pistol license, you'll need to bring the permit to our office as soon as possible.' He still hasn't surrendered his CPL."

Curtis declined to comment on his removal as a reserve deputy or the revocation of the unrestricted CPL.

Flint-area attorney Frank J. Manley said Curtis has a valid CPL and just needs to turn in the paperwork. Manley said Curtis was heading up a financial oversight investigation at the Genesee County Sheriff's Office around the same time he was removed from the special deputy list.

"Commissioner Curtis has a valid CPL," Manley said. "This whole allegation smacks of petty politics and it is retaliatory in nature. It is even smaller when weighed against the overwhelming issues faced by our city and county."

Gleason said on Monday, Feb. 8 he informed the Law Enforcement Information Network of the change in license status for Curtis. He said since the gun board was dissolved on Dec. 1 the responsibility to get the license turned in has fallen to his office.

"I've never had this responsibility because of the new law getting rid of the gun board this has now fallen to me," Gleason said. "I'm going to uphold the law the best I can. This was just brought to my attention this week. Because of the new law it was lost in old paperwork that we're trying to clean-up from the old gun board."

Genesee County Sheriff Robert Pickell declined to comment on Curtis' removal from the reserves or the unrestricted CPL license.

Pickell said the reserve deputies are utilized directing traffic for large events, and most recently in Flint's water crisis.

"They helped out with all of the water emergency going door-to-door delivering water filters right along with my people." Pickell said.

Gleason said there's no law showing any repercussions for not turning the unrestricted license in. He said his office can ask the sheriff's office to go after it if it isn't turned in.
