| Darn, I don't get out of work until 6:00. Ya' know what I would really like to see down there. Some of the things My Mother and Grand mother have told me about growing up in Flint. It seems years ago. They used to put up 2x4's in the entrances to the pavillion. Then fill it with about 2 inches of water and Ice skate in the pavillion. Then after christmas people used to haul down all their christmas trees to be burnt down there at the bottom of the hill. And then even further back. My grandmother told me that they used to dam up the creek by the armory. It would flood the park and they used to skate all over the park. (It's hard to think about an 87 year old woman out skating or even at one time being able to swim in the Flint river)Now, when I was a kid we used to just go down there and sled and the city used to put up a tabaggon (sp) slide. I dont' remember if the Concession stand was open or not. But we always had Hot chocolate or warm cider from somewhere. Ohh the good ol'e days. |
