The fate of a Flint nightclub is in the hands of the of a state magistrate

A nightclub in Flint had its liquor license temporarily revoked - some claim the club is a magnet for crime.
Today the club's lawyer had a chance to argue why that ban should be lifted.

The club in question is known as club Xclusive, on Clio Road in Flint.

The club had its liquor license temporarily pulled last week, after Flint Mayor Don Williamson sent a letter to the Liquor Control Commission.

Today, an assistant to the attorney general was at the hearing to argue that the ban should not be lifted.

He called Flint police officers to the stand to argue that club Xclusive is a problem for the city of Flint and has been for a while. He also says that a shooting earlier this month happened in the foyer of the nightclub.

That is becoming a key argument in this issue because the commission only deals with issues inside the building.

The owner of club Xclusive says it didn't happen in the building. He thinks this effort to pull the club's license is politically motivated and possibly even racial motivated.

The magistrate at today's hearing will decide if the emergency ban of the club's liquor license should be lifted.

He's expected to make his decision early next week.
