I only ask because the politically correct term keeps changing and I find "African American" to be particularly inappropriate for a "person of color." Here's why...one would assume that "African American" would be a person (or one with ancestors) from Africa. Ernie Els, PGA Tour player, hails from Africa. If he moved to the United States, would he then be "African American?" Mon Dec 31, 2007 7:15 pm  last time here Guest ha ha ha ha ha ha.....to some...yes. to me uhhhhhhhhh, naw man.. i can't speak for all blacks but i've never had a problem with: black guy white guy mexican guy indian guy whatever..... but, i've seen in places like the dominican republic where people i consider black (american point of view) do not appreciate being called black. it's a class thing down there. thats why this article is so interesting to me. there appear to be vestiges of that "mentality" that still remain in america. i've done a bit of traveling and as far as race matters go, i consider america to be far ahead. once while in jamaica i noticed the lighter skinned blacks had the better jobs (banks, malls, etc.) while the darker skinned had more menial jobs. even on cruise ships there is a type of race-based employment. italians run the ships, indians (east) tend to be security, east europeans tend to be overseers of services, blacks and some lighter skinned orientals operate the various bars and smaller 24 hour restaurants and the darker skinned orientals tend to supply manual labor. now this is in no means the rule, just what i have noticed. very interesting. once in negril a light-skinned black (mulatto) told me a ni==er joke. i quickly advised him not to repeat that joke to any american blacks. what was wierd was the fact there was a black guy (also an employee) standing nearby and he had no reaction whatsoever! again pertaining to this article, i sincerely hope the color allegations are proven untrue. i've met ms.moon and i do not believe her to be that type person. _________________ Guest post Mon Dec 31, 2007 7:17 pm  00SL2 F L I N T O I D quote: last time here schreef: i'll venture to say i seriously doubt that's the reason she was passed over.
