After weeks of investigation, Flint mayor Don Williamson announced several agencies will finally receive money from unpaid contracts. Tuesday’s announcement ends months of talks and negotiations from agencies demanding money from Flint. "If I just walk in here and sign to give people money that don't have it coming, I'm just as liable as the people before me. I make sure that every "I" is dotted ten times and every "T" is crossed. I'm not giving people's money away, no matter what people say,” said Mayor Williamson.

Williamson says he refused to pay contractors and agencies for shoddy work. He decided to release money to appropriate agencies after an investigation.

On November 23, the Genesee County Commission announced it would give the City of Flint 14-days to pay more than $1 million for tearing down homes an providing emergency shelter to city residents, or else it would sue. That deadline was up Tuesday.

“Things did speed up a bit after the board agreed to file suit. You hate to have to take it to that point. But I'm just glad that it's all resolved,” said County Treasurer Dan Kildee.

The mayor also paid monies due to GCCARD, a local agency dedicated to helping low income residents. Williamson says he'll continue funding the Disability Network and vendors who can show evidence they are entitled to a payout.
